The CIA and the U-2 Program, 1954-1974 According to this declassified Central Intelligence Agency report, which was partially released in late 1998, the CIA's U-2 spy plane flights were often reported to Air Force UFO investigators, who were forced to issue cover stories to conceal the existence of the plane. The CIA's Role in the Study of UFOs This article from the CIA journal Studies in Intelligence was released to the public in the summer of 1997. The report, by intelligence community historian Gerald K. Haines, reviews the "CIA's Role in the Study of UFOs, 1947-1990," and explains how U.S. officials lied to the public about top secret spy planes that were reported as UFOs. The Robertson Panel Report This 1953 report summarizes the meetings, conclusions and recommendations of a CIA-organized panel officially known as the "Scientific Advisory Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects." Case Closed: The "Crash Test Dummies" Report Document excerpts and photos from the USAF's "The Roswell Report: Case Closed," which attempts to explain the Roswell Incident as confusion over anthromorphic dummies and UFO lookalikes. This report was released just in time for the 50th anniversary of the crash in Roswell, New Mexico. GAO Report on Roswell Documents This U.S. General Accounting Office report, "Results of a Search for Records Concerning the 1947 Crash Near Roswell, New Mexico," was issued in July 1995. In it, the GAO summarizes its investigation and reproduces the small number of documents it unearthed. GAO Letter to Rep. Schiff, re: Majestic 12 The General Accounting Office also responded to Rep. Schiff's questions about documents related to the so-called Majestic 12 group. The "Majestic 12" Documents These cleverly forged documents are the Roswell smoking guns that were unfortunately shooting blanks. Project Blue Book "Unknowns" This list of 701 UFO reports represents all of the "unexplained" sightings recorded by the Air Force's Project Blue Book, a seventeen year investigation. The list provides the dates, locations, and Blue Book case numbers for the incidents.
