Scully's most fearsome foe was even worse than Donnie the death fetishist: It was a fearsome stuffed cat. Scully Versus the X-Cat From the Files of Fortean Slips by D. Trull Enigma Editor dtrull@parascope.com In three years of investigating weirdness on "The X-Files," Agent Dana Scully has had to face scores of horrific encounters, but one fearsome foe stands well above the rest. Not Agent Krycek, not Donnie the death fetishist, not Oswald the lightning boy, not even the mysterious force that abducted and nearly killed her. No, Scully's worst nightmare was... the stuffed kitty! In a recent "TV Guide" article, actress Gillian Anderson revealed that her most unpleasant X-perience came on the set of this season's episode "Teso Dos Bichos." The script called for Scully to be savagely attacked by a berserk cat, but Anderson has an allergy to felines. To keep their star from breaking out in hives, the special effects crew fabricated a fake cat, which they for some reason chose the cover with rabbit fur. Anderson had to simulate mortal combat with the faux kitty-cat for three hours of shooting. She labels this thespian achievement the stupidest event of her life. "It was take after take of fighting and rolling around with this bunny-covered cat on my face," Anderson said. "The fur was coming off, going up my nose, and sticking to my lipstick. That was the worst." Mussed-up lipstick? Holy geez! She better get Mulder to tape an "X" on his window and shine a light on it, pronto. (c) Copyright 1996 ParaScope, Inc.
