From the Files of Fortean Slips by D. Trull Enigma Editor dtrull@parascope.com In the wake of "The X-Files," television has gone into a paranormal frenzy. Ex-Hardy Boy Shaun Cassidy served up "American Gothic," and Jonathan Frakes has put his interstellar credentials to good use as the host of "Alien Autopsy" and "Paranormal Borderline." This fall's new prime-time crop is sure to bring more of the same. But you know, it's not just grownups who want to know if "the truth is out there." Kids are hungry for some supernatural TV, too. There's already "Goosebumps" and "Gargoyles," and now, according to the zine "Bufo's Weird World," the Loch Ness Monster is getting her own animated series. Sort of a Fortean version of "The Care Bears," the show chronicles the adventures of Nessie and her rainbow-colored assortment of friends. Rounding out the wacky crew of lake-dwelling buddies are Happy Ness, Loud Ness, Silly Ness and Beautiful Ness. Apparently a Scottish offshoot of the same reptilian genus as Barney, the Ness gang sing happy songs and help kids fight the bad, nasty Loch monsters, Dark Ness and Mean Ness. Lame Ness. Man, I think maybe the kids would be better off with old reruns of "Sigmund the Sea-Monster." (c) Copyright 1996 ParaScope, Inc.
